With two recent opinion pieces, Assistant Professor in CfU, Mira C. Skadegård, crucially highlights the discrimination present in Denmark. In Politiken, she calls out the normalization of racism in Denmark and points out that doing so does not eliminate racism, but rather makes it even more troublesome to address. In her piece in Nordtinget, Skadegård illustrates how national policies and discourses are racist and implicitly encourage people in Denmark to reflect on how to understand the policies and discourses. In a previous article at TENTA, she uses former textbooks and other artifacts to display the historical solidification of racism in Danish schooling materials.
Mira C. Skadegård's research centers on discrimination in Denmark and focus particularly on structural discrimination. Press here, to find more of her work. She has for example recently published a piece on how we can fight discrimination in everyday life.
